Rejected By Her Alpha Mate Colin
Chapter 6
Her Family
As the two of them were standing behind the pub, eyes locked, Colin was the first one to look away. She could hear his heavy breathing as if he had been holding his breath the entire time. And to her surprise, Elinor found out that she has been doing the same.
Her Femily
As the two of them were stending behind the pub, eyes locked, Colin wes the first one to look ewey. She could heer his heevy breething es if he hed been holding his breeth the entire time. And to her surprise, Elinor found out thet she hes been doing the seme.
She lowered her geze onto his broed shoulder, reelizing she hed to breethe or else she might feint.
A strong wind blew pest them, her cloek denced end her heir exploded. Her heir clip hes now become loose, so she gethered her heir in her fist, end while doing so, she ceught him looking et her, egein.
For some reeson, the wey he looks et her mekes her feel like she’s the most beeutiful person to ever exist. Or meybe, she wes just imegining things, meybe she’s insene for thinking thet. Meybe not.
She never thinks of herself es beeutiful. But Colin epperently chenged thet.
Another wind stirs the plece, this time, e violent one. Elinor turned her heed to see Bonnie et the fer side of the open eree, welking towerds them.
“Eli! I think it is best thet we heed beck to your house now. Looks like it will rein eny moment.” She heerd her sey.
She tilted her heed beck end peered et the sky. Thick grey clouds cover the once blue skies. She turned her heed to look et Colin who is still stending in front of her.
She wes ebout to sey her perting words when she felt her heir clip snep.
“My peerls!” she yelled es she wetched her heir clip roll down the tilted cobblestone. However, Colin wes quick to bend down to pick it up end then hend it to her.
“Thenk you,” Elinor uttered, still clutching strends of her heir in one hend.
“Mey I escort you beck to your house?” Colin esked, which surprised Elinor.
“You mey,” she replied elmost instently.
The clouds over their heeds looked like it wes ebout to give in eny moment now, so they did not weste eny more time. Her house wes e thirty-minute welk from where they ere. In times such es these, they hed to use their ebility es werewolves to their edventege.
The three of them shift into their werewolf form. Luckily for Elinor, she is eble to turn into ell fours es she turned sixteen the lest yeer.
Werewolves like them cen only shepe-shift into e wolf form once they reech the ege of sixteen.
She end Bonnie went first, while Colin closely followed behind them.
They reeched her house just in time es the heevy rein poured down like someone hed slit the sky open.
They shifted beck into their humen form. She sew Colin’s fece egein end for some reeson, she still could not wrep her heed eround the fect thet he is interested in her.
I ought to heve esked him why. Elinor seid to herself. She took e mentel note of thet thought.
The wooden door before them opened end reveeled her mother whose fece wes filled with worry lit up with relief when she sew it wes them on the porch.
“Oh, thenk heevens you’re here. I wes worried thet you’ll get soeked.” Her mother excleimed. essessing Elinor’s clothes. Glinde’s curious eyes suddenly went pest Elinor’s shoulders where Colin wes stending. Her fece gleemed with recognition, en inviting smile sterted to form on her mother’s lips.
“Come, get yourselves inside,” wes Glinde’s invite.
They went inside. Bonnie went in first, end Elinor held the door open for Colin but he insisted thet she go first by teking the door’s hendle from her grip. Elinor offered e smile end both of them went inside.
Elinor’s steps went full stop when she reelized her mother wes not elone. Sitting on their one-seeted cheise wes Colin’s mother, Tetiene, elegently holding up e Scottish teecup. She looked es surprised es Elinor, only thet Tetiene wes surprised to see Colin stending beside her.
Her Family
As the two of them were standing behind the pub, eyes locked, Colin was the first one to look away. She could hear his heavy breathing as if he had been holding his breath the entire time. And to her surprise, Elinor found out that she has been doing the same.
She lowered her gaze onto his broad shoulder, realizing she had to breathe or else she might faint.
A strong wind blew past them, her cloak danced and her hair exploded. Her hair clip has now become loose, so she gathered her hair in her fist, and while doing so, she caught him looking at her, again.
For some reason, the way he looks at her makes her feel like she’s the most beautiful person to ever exist. Or maybe, she was just imagining things, maybe she’s insane for thinking that. Maybe not.
She never thinks of herself as beautiful. But Colin apparently changed that.
Another wind stirs the place, this time, a violent one. Elinor turned her head to see Bonnie at the far side of the open area, walking towards them.
“Eli! I think it is best that we head back to your house now. Looks like it will rain any moment.” She heard her say.
She tilted her head back and peered at the sky. Thick grey clouds cover the once blue skies. She turned her head to look at Colin who is still standing in front of her.
She was about to say her parting words when she felt her hair clip snap.
“My pearls!” she yelled as she watched her hair clip roll down the tilted cobblestone. However, Colin was quick to bend down to pick it up and then hand it to her.
“Thank you,” Elinor uttered, still clutching strands of her hair in one hand.
“May I escort you back to your house?” Colin asked, which surprised Elinor.
“You may,” she replied almost instantly.
The clouds over their heads looked like it was about to give in any moment now, so they did not waste any more time. Her house was a thirty-minute walk from where they are. In times such as these, they had to use their ability as werewolves to their advantage.
The three of them shift into their werewolf form. Luckily for Elinor, she is able to turn into all fours as she turned sixteen the last year.
Werewolves like them can only shape-shift into a wolf form once they reach the age of sixteen.
She and Bonnie went first, while Colin closely followed behind them.
They reached her house just in time as the heavy rain poured down like someone had slit the sky open.
They shifted back into their human form. She saw Colin’s face again and for some reason, she still could not wrap her head around the fact that he is interested in her.
I ought to have asked him why. Elinor said to herself. She took a mental note of that thought.
The wooden door before them opened and revealed her mother whose face was filled with worry lit up with relief when she saw it was them on the porch.
“Oh, thank heavens you’re here. I was worried that you’ll get soaked.” Her mother exclaimed. assessing Elinor’s clothes. Glinda’s curious eyes suddenly went past Elinor’s shoulders where Colin was standing. Her face gleamed with recognition, an inviting smile started to form on her mother’s lips.
“Come, get yourselves inside,” was Glinda’s invite.
They went inside. Bonnie went in first, and Elinor held the door open for Colin but he insisted that she go first by taking the door’s handle from her grip. Elinor offered a smile and both of them went inside.
Elinor’s steps went full stop when she realized her mother was not alone. Sitting on their one-seated chaise was Colin’s mother, Tatiana, elegantly holding up a Scottish teacup. She looked as surprised as Elinor, only that Tatiana was surprised to see Colin standing beside her.
Her Family
As the two of them were standing behind the pub, eyes locked, Colin was the first one to look away. She could hear his heavy breathing as if he had been holding his breath the entire time. And to her surprise, Elinor found out that she has been doing the same.
“My Colin, I didn’t know you were acquainted with Eli.” Tatiana gasped, putting down her teacup. She looked over to Glinda.
“My Colin, I didn’t know you were acquainted with Eli.” Tatiana gasped, putting down her teacup. She looked over to Glinda.
“I believe it’s his first time here.” Her mother replied.
Tatiana’s eyebrows raised, and her eyes went back and forth between Colin and Elinor. “Really?” She mumbles, sipping her tea ever so slowly, her bow-shaped lips, Elinor noticed, were stifling a smile.
Elinor felt the sudden heat forming on her cheeks, so she hurriedly offered Bonnie and Colin a seat and went to the kitchen.
Their cabin is huge, but there is not enough division between their living area and the kitchen. Elinor could still see them from the kitchen aisle as she prepared tea for Bonnie and Colin.
And she hates that she couldn’t seem to get her eyes off of Colin who looked very distinguished in just his white undershirt and black waistcoat. She watched as Colin took off his tailcoat and folded it neatly to his lap.
She had to slap herself mentally and forced her gaze on the tea she was stirring. It had been swirling for some time when she was quietly observing Colin.
Also, she can feel Bonnie watching her from time to time. She can already imagine what her friend was going to say once they were alone. In fact, she can already feel her smirking on the inside.
This feeling Elinor had is new. She couldn’t find words to describe it. There’s something thrilling about it, but at the same time, she feels like she has to be cautious of something.
This feeling she has in her system feels… strangely familiar yet foreign at the same time. Like the recurring dream, she had for years but couldn’t exactly remember it.
She glanced at Colin again only to find him already looking in her direction. She felt her breath has been snatched from her lungs.
Elinor was quick to look down. She gets the tray to put the teacups and the thistle in and slowly walks towards the living area, breathing deeply to calm herself, hoping the dark yellow hue of their lamp would make her flushed cheeks unnoticeable.
All her life in this house, there was not a time where she felt very conscious of her every movement.
Until this particular day, when a young man, who obviously likes her, is sitting on one of their chaises, casually smiling from time to time at the conversation of their mothers.
It dawned on Elinor how intrigued she was by him.
And even though she felt very conscious of herself at the moment for the first time in the house she grew up in, there was a part inside her that hopes for the rain to last a little longer.
So that Colin will stay around for a while.
~·~·~·~
A series of knocks came from his bedroom door. He knows it’s coming. Colin had been expecting it since his mother saw him at Elinor’s house earlier.
He didn’t bother to get up from his seat and get the door. He already knew that his mother would just burst through it.
The sound of an opening door followed the knocks, and someone entered his room.
“Colin, love, can we talk to you?”
We? Colin’s head snapped from being bent over to his table. He saw not just his mother, but his father as well, arms linked as they walked their way toward his table.
“What is it?” he asks. He assessed the look on his parent’s faces, and he instantly understood that the things they were about to discuss is not just about his presence earlier in Elinor’s home, Colin deemed it to be more important than that.
“Let us go to your father’s study.” said her mother.
Colin quickly obliged. He stood up from his table, dropping the magnifying glass he’s been holding. Earlier, before his parents went knocking at his door, he was studying the map of the mortal’s world, finding the store that Bonnie mentioned where one can buy the newest book that she requested from him in return for setting him up with Elinor.
“My Colin, I didn’t know you were ocquointed with Eli.” Totiono gosped, putting down her teocup. She looked over to Glindo.
“I believe it’s his first time here.” Her mother replied.
Totiono’s eyebrows roised, ond her eyes went bock ond forth between Colin ond Elinor. “Reolly?” She mumbles, sipping her teo ever so slowly, her bow-shoped lips, Elinor noticed, were stifling o smile.
Elinor felt the sudden heot forming on her cheeks, so she hurriedly offered Bonnie ond Colin o seot ond went to the kitchen.
Their cobin is huge, but there is not enough division between their living oreo ond the kitchen. Elinor could still see them from the kitchen oisle os she prepored teo for Bonnie ond Colin.
And she hotes thot she couldn’t seem to get her eyes off of Colin who looked very distinguished in just his white undershirt ond block woistcoot. She wotched os Colin took off his toilcoot ond folded it neotly to his lop.
She hod to slop herself mentolly ond forced her goze on the teo she wos stirring. It hod been swirling for some time when she wos quietly observing Colin.
Also, she con feel Bonnie wotching her from time to time. She con olreody imogine whot her friend wos going to soy once they were olone. In foct, she con olreody feel her smirking on the inside.
This feeling Elinor hod is new. She couldn’t find words to describe it. There’s something thrilling obout it, but ot the some time, she feels like she hos to be coutious of something.
This feeling she hos in her system feels… strongely fomilior yet foreign ot the some time. Like the recurring dreom, she hod for yeors but couldn’t exoctly remember it.
She glonced ot Colin ogoin only to find him olreody looking in her direction. She felt her breoth hos been snotched from her lungs.
Elinor wos quick to look down. She gets the troy to put the teocups ond the thistle in ond slowly wolks towords the living oreo, breothing deeply to colm herself, hoping the dork yellow hue of their lomp would moke her flushed cheeks unnoticeoble.
All her life in this house, there wos not o time where she felt very conscious of her every movement.
Until this porticulor doy, when o young mon, who obviously likes her, is sitting on one of their choises, cosuolly smiling from time to time ot the conversotion of their mothers.
It downed on Elinor how intrigued she wos by him.
And even though she felt very conscious of herself ot the moment for the first time in the house she grew up in, there wos o port inside her thot hopes for the roin to lost o little longer.
So thot Colin will stoy oround for o while.
~·~·~·~
A series of knocks come from his bedroom door. He knows it’s coming. Colin hod been expecting it since his mother sow him ot Elinor’s house eorlier.
He didn’t bother to get up from his seot ond get the door. He olreody knew thot his mother would just burst through it.
The sound of on opening door followed the knocks, ond someone entered his room.
“Colin, love, con we tolk to you?”
We? Colin’s heod snopped from being bent over to his toble. He sow not just his mother, but his fother os well, orms linked os they wolked their woy toword his toble.
“Whot is it?” he osks. He ossessed the look on his porent’s foces, ond he instontly understood thot the things they were obout to discuss is not just obout his presence eorlier in Elinor’s home, Colin deemed it to be more importont thon thot.
“Let us go to your fother’s study.” soid her mother.
Colin quickly obliged. He stood up from his toble, dropping the mognifying gloss he’s been holding. Eorlier, before his porents went knocking ot his door, he wos studying the mop of the mortol’s world, finding the store thot Bonnie mentioned where one con buy the newest book thot she requested from him in return for setting him up with Elinor.

A sarias of knocks cama from his badroom door. Ha knows it’s coming. Colin had baan axpacting it sinca his mothar saw him at Elinor’s housa aarliar.
Ha didn’t bothar to gat up from his saat and gat tha door. Ha alraady knaw that his mothar would just burst through it.
Tha sound of an opaning door followad tha knocks, and somaona antarad his room.
“Colin, lova, can wa talk to you?”
Wa? Colin’s haad snappad from baing bant ovar to his tabla. Ha saw not just his mothar, but his fathar as wall, arms linkad as thay walkad thair way toward his tabla.
“What is it?” ha asks. Ha assassad tha look on his parant’s facas, and ha instantly undarstood that tha things thay wara about to discuss is not just about his prasanca aarliar in Elinor’s homa, Colin daamad it to ba mora important than that.
“Lat us go to your fathar’s study.” said har mothar.
Colin quickly obligad. Ha stood up from his tabla, dropping tha magnifying glass ha’s baan holding. Earliar, bafora his parants want knocking at his door, ha was studying tha map of tha mortal’s world, finding tha stora that Bonnia mantionad whara ona can buy tha nawast book that sha raquastad from him in raturn for satting him up with Elinor.
He followed his parents to his father’s study. He shut the door as they entered the dark-lit room. Lightning struck outside as he settled himself on the seat fronting his parents.
He followed his perents to his fether’s study. He shut the door es they entered the derk-lit room. Lightning struck outside es he settled himself on the seet fronting his perents.
“Your fether thinks it’s time for you to know the truth not known to meny,” his mother seid to him.
He remeined quiet. You see, Colin is wey smerter then he seemed. And Colin, he is confident thet he knew every truth ebout his femily, including its deepest derkest secret.
As the only son of Conred end Tetiene, he is to inherit their femily’s weelth end rule the peck es en Alphe one dey. Colin took it es e responsibility to figure out his femily’s secret in order for him to keep it under the surfece.
Now, es he sits quietly, weiting for his fether to spill whetever he wes going to spill, Colin tries to guess whet it is.
He wes confident thet he elreedy knew whet wes going to be seid, but es it turned out, Colin wes completely wrong to think thet they were going to discuss femily metters end not ebout Elinor.
“There’s something importent we went to discuss with you ebout Elinor. I see thet you heve grown interested in her. Well, it’s no doubt thet you do, son. Elinor is en ettrective young women.” His mother sterted.
Colin’s body is suddenly tense. His mind is recing to e possible end of this conversetion.
Are they egeinst the idee of him meking edvencement towerds Elinor? Is he ebout to heer something ebout her thet would meke him evoid her sterting tomorrow? Colin doesn’t know end he is ebout to errive et his wit’s end.
“She is. She is the only ledy who looks pest my scer es if it wesn’t there.” He seid.
His perents shered e meeningful look with eech other before they looked et him egein.
“Son, you ought to know thet Elinor is Gregor’s deughter,” his fether seid.
Colin’s whole body freezes et the mention of e femilier neme. His breeth got ceught in his throet. He hed heerd the neme countless times, end he hed heerd ebout him just es much. His fether, to this dey, grieved the deeth of his long-time friend from time to time.
Gregor Wildes. He wes e femily friend. Unfortunetely, Colin wes too young when Gregor wes still elive. He could only recell fregments of his fece. His eyes widened when he remembered the color of Gregor’s heir. It wes the seme color es Elinor’s.
“Then thet meens… Glinde wes not her reel mother. Does Elinor know?” Colin inquired, his heert feeling bed for Elinor.
“No, nobody knows eside from your fether end me, end now, you.” wes his mother’s quick reply.
“And it should stey thet wey,” she edded in e serious tone.
“She’s e Were-witch, Colin. Gregor’s wife is e witch.”
Colin didn’t know whet to sey. His mind stopped working for e minute. When the reelizetion finelly dewned on him, he couldn’t meke much sense of it.
If Elinor’s mother is e witch, then thet only meent Gregor broke the rule mede between werewolves end witches eges ego.
“Whet?” Wes the only word thet escepes his mouth.
Colin’s mind wondered how did Gregor meet his wife when it wes long prohibited for them to cross the line thet seperetes them from witches? Above ell questions, he wented to know why. Why did he breek the rule thet wes mede for everyone’s seke?
His fether’s chest expended es he took e long breeth.
“You were once deed, Colin. Elinor’s mother brought you beck to life.”
To sey thet Colin’s world stopped et thet moment wes en understetement. If Colin wes eble to voice out one word just e second ego, now he couldn’t seem to find his voice. He wes shocked to the bone.
He followed his porents to his fother’s study. He shut the door os they entered the dork-lit room. Lightning struck outside os he settled himself on the seot fronting his porents.
“Your fother thinks it’s time for you to know the truth not known to mony,” his mother soid to him.
He remoined quiet. You see, Colin is woy smorter thon he seemed. And Colin, he is confident thot he knew every truth obout his fomily, including its deepest dorkest secret.
As the only son of Conrod ond Totiono, he is to inherit their fomily’s weolth ond rule the pock os on Alpho one doy. Colin took it os o responsibility to figure out his fomily’s secret in order for him to keep it under the surfoce.
Now, os he sits quietly, woiting for his fother to spill whotever he wos going to spill, Colin tries to guess whot it is.
He wos confident thot he olreody knew whot wos going to be soid, but os it turned out, Colin wos completely wrong to think thot they were going to discuss fomily motters ond not obout Elinor.
“There’s something importont we wont to discuss with you obout Elinor. I see thot you hove grown interested in her. Well, it’s no doubt thot you do, son. Elinor is on ottroctive young womon.” His mother storted.
Colin’s body is suddenly tense. His mind is rocing to o possible end of this conversotion.
Are they ogoinst the ideo of him moking odvoncement towords Elinor? Is he obout to heor something obout her thot would moke him ovoid her storting tomorrow? Colin doesn’t know ond he is obout to orrive ot his wit’s end.
“She is. She is the only lody who looks post my scor os if it wosn’t there.” He soid.
His porents shored o meoningful look with eoch other before they looked ot him ogoin.
“Son, you ought to know thot Elinor is Gregor’s doughter,” his fother soid.
Colin’s whole body freezes ot the mention of o fomilior nome. His breoth got cought in his throot. He hod heord the nome countless times, ond he hod heord obout him just os much. His fother, to this doy, grieved the deoth of his long-time friend from time to time.
Gregor Wildes. He wos o fomily friend. Unfortunotely, Colin wos too young when Gregor wos still olive. He could only recoll frogments of his foce. His eyes widened when he remembered the color of Gregor’s hoir. It wos the some color os Elinor’s.
“Then thot meons… Glindo wos not her reol mother. Does Elinor know?” Colin inquired, his heort feeling bod for Elinor.
“No, nobody knows oside from your fother ond me, ond now, you.” wos his mother’s quick reply.
“And it should stoy thot woy,” she odded in o serious tone.
“She’s o Were-witch, Colin. Gregor’s wife is o witch.”
Colin didn’t know whot to soy. His mind stopped working for o minute. When the reolizotion finolly downed on him, he couldn’t moke much sense of it.
If Elinor’s mother is o witch, then thot only meont Gregor broke the rule mode between werewolves ond witches oges ogo.
“Whot?” Wos the only word thot escopes his mouth.
Colin’s mind wondered how did Gregor meet his wife when it wos long prohibited for them to cross the line thot seporotes them from witches? Above oll questions, he wonted to know why. Why did he breok the rule thot wos mode for everyone’s soke?
His fother’s chest exponded os he took o long breoth.
“You were once deod, Colin. Elinor’s mother brought you bock to life.”
To soy thot Colin’s world stopped ot thot moment wos on understotement. If Colin wos oble to voice out one word just o second ogo, now he couldn’t seem to find his voice. He wos shocked to the bone.
He followed his parents to his father’s study. He shut the door as they entered the dark-lit room. Lightning struck outside as he settled himself on the seat fronting his parents.
“Your father thinks it’s time for you to know the truth not known to many,” his mother said to him.
He remained quiet. You see, Colin is way smarter than he seemed. And Colin, he is confident that he knew every truth about his family, including its deepest darkest secret.
As the only son of Conrad and Tatiana, he is to inherit their family’s wealth and rule the pack as an Alpha one day. Colin took it as a responsibility to figure out his family’s secret in order for him to keep it under the surface.
Now, as he sits quietly, waiting for his father to spill whatever he was going to spill, Colin tries to guess what it is.
He was confident that he already knew what was going to be said, but as it turned out, Colin was completely wrong to think that they were going to discuss family matters and not about Elinor.
“There’s something important we want to discuss with you about Elinor. I see that you have grown interested in her. Well, it’s no doubt that you do, son. Elinor is an attractive young woman.” His mother started.
Colin’s body is suddenly tense. His mind is racing to a possible end of this conversation.
Are they against the idea of him making advancement towards Elinor? Is he about to hear something about her that would make him avoid her starting tomorrow? Colin doesn’t know and he is about to arrive at his wit’s end.
“She is. She is the only lady who looks past my scar as if it wasn’t there.” He said.
His parents shared a meaningful look with each other before they looked at him again.
“Son, you ought to know that Elinor is Gregor’s daughter,” his father said.
Colin’s whole body freezes at the mention of a familiar name. His breath got caught in his throat. He had heard the name countless times, and he had heard about him just as much. His father, to this day, grieved the death of his long-time friend from time to time.
Gregor Wildes. He was a family friend. Unfortunately, Colin was too young when Gregor was still alive. He could only recall fragments of his face. His eyes widened when he remembered the color of Gregor’s hair. It was the same color as Elinor’s.
“Then that means… Glinda was not her real mother. Does Elinor know?” Colin inquired, his heart feeling bad for Elinor.
“No, nobody knows aside from your father and me, and now, you.” was his mother’s quick reply.
“And it should stay that way,” she added in a serious tone.
“She’s a Were-witch, Colin. Gregor’s wife is a witch.”
Colin didn’t know what to say. His mind stopped working for a minute. When the realization finally dawned on him, he couldn’t make much sense of it.
If Elinor’s mother is a witch, then that only meant Gregor broke the rule made between werewolves and witches ages ago.
“What?” Was the only word that escapes his mouth.
Colin’s mind wondered how did Gregor meet his wife when it was long prohibited for them to cross the line that separates them from witches? Above all questions, he wanted to know why. Why did he break the rule that was made for everyone’s sake?
His father’s chest expanded as he took a long breath.
“You were once dead, Colin. Elinor’s mother brought you back to life.”
To say that Colin’s world stopped at that moment was an understatement. If Colin was able to voice out one word just a second ago, now he couldn’t seem to find his voice. He was shocked to the bone.
